Preview: Storm v Knights

  • Preview: Storm v Knights

Many within the Melbourne Storm camp have been quietly waiting for this game to arrive. After last years shock loss to the Knights in the final series, Melbourne will be out to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Melbourne and Newcastle have met on 31 occasions, with the Storm winning 18 and the Knights 13 times.

Last season the Knights had all the momentum and Melbourne had been shaky going into the final part of the season. This year Melbourne has won two close encounters with an impressive come from behind win over Manly-Warringah and a grinding defeat of Penrith, while the Knights were blown away by the Panthers and lost at home to Canberra.

Mullen and Boyd are still out injured for the Knights, while Melbourne have made no changes to their squad. Both opposing five/eighths will be under the spotlight again. Michael Dobson has done a good job in the absences of Jarrod Mullen, while Ben Hampton has been impressive taking over the 6 jersey this year.

Unfortunately I think the Knights will be 0 and 3 after Round 3. Injuries to key positions is hurting them and although it wont be a flogging, the experience in the Storm forwards and the big three will be too much for the Knights this weekend. But in saying all that my tipping this season has been horrible so the Knights are probably specials.

Can the Knights prove me wrong and cause another AAMI Park upset? Tell us and the rest of the Knights fans your opinion on how this game will unfold.
