It may not go down as one of the great drop goals of all time but former Knights lock forward Marc Glanville can claim to have kicked a field goal for the red and blue back in 1997.
It was Round 5 on a Sunday afternoon in April against a Parramatta team boasting players of the caliber of Paul Carige and Ian Herron. With no Andrew Johns available due to injury and the game in the balance, MG took the game into his own hands and slotted the 1 pointer to give the Knights a 29 to 10 victory.
Some say the field goal was the turning point in the season. From that moment, that drop goal, Newcastle marched on to win the 1997 ARL premiership.
So thank you Marc Glanville for giving us one to remember.
What one moment in the Knights history do you think is worth re-living?
