Melbourne Storm continued their unbeaten run with a 28 points to 20 win at AAMI Park over Newcastle Knights.
Storm lead at the break 18-10 but the talking point of the first half was the tackle on Knights back-rower Alex McKinnon. McKinnon was stretchered from the field after a tackle went wrong. He was lifted into an awkward position and came down heavily on his head.
In the second half the Knights lifted and got within four points of the home side, before Melbourne’s captain Cameron Smith took control and scored the match wining try.
Although the result for Melbourne was convincing, the game will be remembered for the McKinnon incident.
Calls for the NRL to include an 18th man are getting louder. If the Knights were allowed a replacement, could the result have been different? Let us know your thoughts on the game.
